Acupuncture
Acupuncture therapy involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points, to stimulate the flow of Qi or “Energy”, and promote healing. Acupuncture is based on the belief that energy flows through channels or meridians in the body and that illness and pain occur when the flow of energy is blocked or disrupted.
As a TCM Practitioner, the treatment and selection of acupuncture points are based on proper diagnosis and treatment principles according to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I determine the best acupuncture points to use. The needles are very thin and are inserted into the skin at various depths, they are left in place for a period of time, typically 20 to 30 minutes. I do apply gentle manipulation to enhance the flow of Qi. The patient may feel different sensations in the area of insertion.
